The Boys U13 team won their second consecutive C.I.Y.S.L. division title on Thursday evening, May 20th in convincing fashion by beating the St. Francis Rangers 11-0! This first place finish in the 1st Division, with a record of 5 wins, 3 ties and 0 losses, follows their first place finish in the fall 2009 season’s 2nd Division when they won all eight games.
A rock solid defense, coupled with a few key personnel changes, produced the winning combination. In the fall of 2009 this team scored 47 goals and allowed only 5 goals in 8 league games. The move to the first division this spring brought somewhat tougher opposition which limited scoring to 29 goals in 8 games. But this move upward had no impact on the effectiveness of the team’s defensive skills. The team allowed only 4 goals in 8 games, three of them by the same team.
